Tuba

Ross is a 23 year old tuba player from Scotland who has graduated with a BMusHons and a ProfDip DipRAM under Patrick Harrild at the Royal Academy of Music. Ross is the principal tuba player of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and was a member of European Union Youth Orchestra from 2012-2015. He is also the principal Eb Bass of the Cooperative Funeralcare Band and has been invited to play on numerous occasions with Grimethorpe Colliery Band, the Black Dyke Band, and Faireys Band.

Ross has played with the London Symphony Orchestra and in late September will be playing with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.

Ross has also been successful as a soloist on many occasions. He was the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Player of the Year and from that went on to perform as a soloist with the BBC Concert Orchestra on BBC Radio 2’s ‘Friday Night is Music Night’, and also with Grimethorpe Colliery Band at the British Open Gala Concert in Birmingham. He has also performed as a soloist at the Glamis Musicale, Ruthven Parish Festival, Dundee Chamber Society series as well as many others in and around London. He will be performing as guest soloist at the RNCM Brass Band Festival in January 2016.

In April 2014 Ross was runner up in the European Brass and Percussion Solo Championships and won the best tuba award. He is the only tuba player in the history of the competition to have made it to the final three.

Ross is also a member of Inner City Brass, ædelfrith and Vigilante Brass ensembles, as well as being a Yamaha artist.
