IN FOCUS #1 – Oboe and Piano
Our popular FREE Chamber Music Recital Series is back and to begin with we welcome our Principal Oboist Tom Blomfield, who hails from Lloc in North Wales. Tom is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London and in 2012 became the Gregynog Young Musician. In addition to NEW Sinfonia, Tom enjoys performing with the RLPO and has just been offered a trial for Principal Oboe with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Tom’s accompanist is Máire Carroll who is a recipient of the Jim McNaughton/TileStyle Artist Bursary (Business to Arts Awards, 2015) and the 2012 winner of the €10,000 Royal Dublin Society (RDS) Music Bursary, the first and only pianist to have won these prestigious awards.
